Unakite Beads
Unakite Beads are a very popular gemstone, though it isn't as well known as aquamarine or rubies. It has been used for centuries as one of the traditional gifts for 19th wedding anniversaries due to its longevity and stability in relationships. The name “unakite” was given to this beautiful stone by an American mineralogist named James Dolan (he was also responsible for naming the mineral olivine). He found it in 1938 while working as a mining associate with Arrowhead Mining Company in California. He named it after the Haida tribe in the United States, whom he regarded as living on an island in the sea.
