Rhodonite is an opaque gemstone with characteristic black veins called dendrites that range in color from deep rosy pink to lavender. It is a more durable gemstone than rhodochrosite, which is acid reactive. It is composed of manganese silicate. Rhodonite, on the other hand, is a non-acidic mineral that is commonly found with black manganese minerals and pyrite. Most cleaning methods (ultrasonic, etc.) are safe for rhodonite, but as with all gemstones, avoid rough handling and extreme heat.
