Lepidolite Beads
Lepidolite Beads are a popular gemstone among collectors, who prize its vivid color and distinctive pattern. It was used among the ancient Egyptians and Greeks, but by the end of the 19th century it was found only in Ontario and Ohio. In the 1920s and 1930s, it became widely distributed because of its beautiful deep purple color. Lepidolite was one of the main stones in the crown of the late E. Howard Miller, creator of diecasts. These gems are so called because if you snap the stone and break it in two, you will see a fleck of mica or chlorite (another type of feldspar) that resembles the scales of a lizard.
